Ankara - TheTurkish government launched a series of new projects to improve healthcare for senior citizens. Ten percent of country's senior population is in need of constant healthcare and will be provided medical care at home. Treatment expenses of senior citizens in need of treatment at home will be paid to families and relatives of those citizens.
Special clinics are being set up at nursing homes for people in need of constant medical care. The Ministry of Family and Social Policies will also set up special nursing homes where three or five senior citizens at most will be accommodated to enable them to socialize with each other better. The government also launched yesterday free travel for people older than 65 years on public buses on city and inter-city buses. By simply showing their IDs, senior citizens will be able to travel for free.
