A Turkish charity will introduce duplex housing units for displaced Syrians residing in tent camps. The novel project aims to save space as well as house more Syrians in one camp as the number of displaced taking shelter in Turkey shows no sign of dwindling.
Duplex housing units converted from shipping containers will house 1,000 families. They will be installed as an extension to the Öncüpınar "container city" in southeastern Turkish province of Şanlıurfa.
The Humanitarian Aid Foundation (IHH) is cooperating with the state-run Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) for the establishment of the 500 duplex housing units.
