One week after the footage of locals harassing and torturing a wild boar in downtown Samsun in northern Turkey made headlines, residents of Tunceli in eastern Turkey showcased how animals should be treated by feeding the starved boars rather than chasing them away. Unlike the people of Samsun who cornered a lone boar roaming the streets in search of food by hurling countless stones, people in Tunceli offered food to wild boars descending into town. Wild boars in return allowed the humans to approach them rather than angrily confronting the citizens like the boar in Samsun did. Treatment of boars which descend into towns as a harsh winter makes it difficult for them to find food, caused a public outrage after a video of people in Samsun mercilessly tossing stones on a boar surfaced.
