Security cameras and panic buttons are now being installed in Istanbul taxis as of yesterday. Cameras showing the interior and exterior of the taxi will have a connection to a panic button and a live broadcast will be available at a surveillance center when the button is pressed. Measures aim to deter violence and deadly robbery attempts targeting drivers, as well as verifying complaints toward drivers about their fares.
