A woman has died of the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, in the northwestern province of Kocaeli, becoming the 34th person to have died from the virus in the country.
Officials from the Kocaeli local public health authority said yesterday the 42-year-old had died two days earlier at the Kocaeli Derince Training and Research Hospital after being taken to the hospital on April 1 to be treated for pneumonia.
She also had chronic pulmonary disease and a cardiac valve disorder, the statement said.
Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu revealed on March 25 that at least 33 people have died in Turkey from swine flu since the start of the 2014-2015 flu season.
