Tax officer Bulent Yıldıran in the province of Kahramanmaraş, builds models with ice-cream sticks outside of his working hours in order to sell them and help handicapped people with the proceeds. He donated 121 wheelchairs, 6 electric wheelchairs, 12 air beds and 14 pairs of crutches thanks to revenue from the models.
"I no longer see it as hobby, I see it as a mission," Yıldıran said.
A tax officer in the Pazarcik district of Kahramanmaraş, Yıldıran helped 127 handicapped poeple with the income gained from the sale of models made with ice-cream sticks.
Yıldıran, 40, who is working in the Pazarcik Tax Office, told Anadolu Agency, He began building mocks 8 years ago as a hobby.
Yıldıran said, "I use the rest of my time outside to make models with the sticks I collected in summer, also many people send me ice-cream sticks over the internet. I'm doing more models of mosques and homes."
Yıldıran says he needs about 4 thousand ice-cream sticks in order to complete a model and it also takes around 6 months to complete one model.
District Governor Mehmet Boztepe has said Yıldıran's models are very important.
"It drew attention to a serious effort of annihilating the handicaps of people with disabilities. We always support him," the governor said.
