President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was among a large crowd who attended the funeral for Önder Ertaş, a Special Operations police officer killed on Sunday by the PKK terrorist organization in the eastern city of Van . Ertaş was injured when the police raided a house occupied by the PKK militants, who opened fire on security forces. Twelve terrorists inside were killed while Ertaş succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. Funeral prayers were held at a mosque in Istanbul for Ertaş, who is one among dozens of police officers who have been killed by the terrorist organization since last summer, when it renewed its campaign of terrorism in eastern and southeastern Turkey.
