On Friday, Turkish police found a bomb in a car parked near a regional government office in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
Police sources told Anadolu Agency that a car laden with about 150 kg of explosives was found in front of Hürriyet Primary School, about 50 meters from the regional government office in the Hani district of the province of Diyarbakır.
A ceremony marking Martyrs' Remembrance Day and the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Çanakkale was scheduled to be held on Friday in the government office.
A bomb team successfully defused the explosive.
The attempted bombing came five days after a suicide car bomb attack, which was claimed by affiliates of the PKK terrorist organization, targeted a central transportation hub in the Turkish capital Ankara, killing 35 people and wounding scores of others.
The governor's office has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Sources said that an investigation to find the perpetrators continues.
