Amid heightened security throughout Turkey following bomb attacks that indiscriminately targeted civilians in large cities, a cat in Istanbul seemed pretty nonchalant and ignored the convoy of the country's top post and probably best guarded man.
While President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's convoy was entering the Mabeyn Mansion located in the premises of Ottoman-era Yıldız Palace in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, a cat appeared on the road, making the convoy slow down. As the cat reached half way it noticed the following vehicles of Erdoğan's guards and turned back.
The cat waited for the convoy to pass and then crossed the road. A police officer slowly shooed the cat to lead it out of the road, however, the cat continued to move slowly in its nonchalant manner.
Following the Daesh-linked suicide bombing that claimed the lives of four civilians in Istanbul's Istiklal Street on Saturday, security measures throughout the city were visibly tightened.
