Two Turkish soldiers were killed, four wounded during an operation against the terrorist PKK organization in Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province, Turkish military sources said Tuesday.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said six soldier were wounded during clashes between the security forces and the PKK militants in Şırnak's Bahçelievler neighborhood. The soldiers were taken to Şırnak Military Hospital, however two of them have died of wounds despite all the efforts, the statement said.
Southeast Turkey has been the scene of significant military operations since December as the security forces attempt to clear urban centers of the PKK, which is also designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and EU.
