The Health Ministry has prepared an action plan to reduce alcohol addiction in Turkey. Although among the lowest per capita consumers of alcohol in Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) countries, Turkey remains vigilant about alcohol consumption.
The ministry earmarked a TL 100 million budget ($3.4 million) for alcohol control efforts, and seeks to decrease it from 1.4 liters per person to 1.3 liters.
A series of workshops will be held to analyze how to tackle the issue. The ministry encourages a healthy lifestyle, free of addictive substances such as cigarettes, alcohol and drugs.
