New identity cards for Turkish citizens with electronic features will be launched nationwide in 2017, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said during a press conference held on Friday.
The electronic identity cards were first introduced earlier this year in Kırıkkale to test their effectiveness.
According to Yıldırım, preparations have come to an end and the new cards will be distributed to Turkish citizens next year.
