A Turkish soldier was killed and five others wounded in a PKK attack in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari, military sources said on Saturday.
A group of PKK terrorists attacked a Turkish army base in the Çukurca district of Hakkari, said the sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media.
An air-supported operation was launched in the area to apprehend the terrorists.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks killed more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in army operations.
