Turkish gendarmerie hails new season of Game of Thrones

The Turkish gendarmerie band celebrated the new season of popular television series Game of Thrones by playing its theme song.

The video posted on the gendarmerie's official Twitter account shows smartly dressed men in red uniforms play music.

"Winter is here. Let it be, as long as there is gendarmerie, everyone is safe!" the post said.

Within six hours of being shared, the post garnered nearly 4,000 retweets and received 7,500 likes.

Game of Thrones, first aired in 2011, tells the story of nine noble families trying to take control of the mythical land of Westeros.

Last year, it became the most awarded television series with 38 Emmy wins.

The show's first episode of its seventh season was aired Sunday evening.

Previously on May 4, 2017, the gendarmerie marked the Star Wars Day in a tweet that said "The nigthmare of the dark forces," in a reference to the Dark Side of the cult series.
