Seventeen people sought political asylum in Greece after sneaking into the Greek island of Rhodes from Turkey.
Turkish media outlets reported that the group including teachers were likely linked to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) whose members are accused of carrying out last year's July 15 coup attempt. Most FETÖ members fled the country after the putsch bid was foiled.
In a report based on Greek police sources, Anadolu Agency (AA) said the group was in custody and will be referred to the court for illegally entering Greece, which is littoral to the Aegean Sea in the west of Turkey.
