Konya Technical University team wins high-altitude rocket race at Teknofest Istanbul

The Selçuk Rocket Team consisting of students from Konya Technical University's Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Materials Engineering departments came in first place in the high-altitude rocket race on Saturday at Teknofest, Turkey's first aviation, space and technology fair.

Mustafa Şahin, the university's rector, confirmed the news on Twitter, congratulating his students on their outstanding achievement.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the award for the winning team, who also received prize money and were offered employment opportunities at Roketsan.

Teknofest Istanbul, organized by the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3) and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, aims to promote and showcase Turkey's rapid advance in technology.

The festival, which kicked off on Thursday, features air shows, aviation demonstrations, technology competitions, seminars on cutting-edge technology, and an international entrepreneurship summit, along with other activities.

As part of the festival, leading Turkish defense and technology institutions and corporations such as Aselsan, Baykar, IGA, Isbak, Roketsan, TAI, Turkish Airlines, TUBITAK and TURKSAT will organize competitions in 12 different categories.
