Citizens across Türkiye gathered at mosques on Tuesday to pray and mark Mawlid al-Nabi (Mevlid Kandili).

Ahead of the night prayer on Mawlid al-Nabi, special recitations were held across Istanbul's mosques, including Çamlıca and Eyüpsultan. Congregants prayed following Quran recitals, with a strong participation of people.

The programs began with Quranic recitations prior to the night prayer and continued with religious hymns and odes honoring the Prophet Muhammad. Following the night prayer, the event concluded with collective prayers, as worshippers gathered for Mawlid al-Nabi.

As the congregations began to disperse, teams from the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) served traditional juice to worshippers following the events at the historic Fatih, Eyüpsultan and Sultanahmet mosques.

Similar observances marking the holy night took place in the capital Ankara and across all the provinces of the country.

In Ankara, a special "Mawlid al-Nabi Night" program was organized at the Beştepe Nation Mosque. Held following the evening prayer at the mosque located within the Presidential Complex, the heavily attended event featured Quranic recitations and the reading of the Mawlid.

A Diyanet choir performed religious hymns, accompanied by collective recitations of salawat (salutation upon the Prophet Muhammad) and takbir (the Arabic phrase Allāhu akbar, which translates to "Allah is greater than everything").

During the program, special prayers were also offered for Palestine, Gaza, East Turkestan and Myanmar, as well as for all martyrs and deceased veterans.
