The Seyahatsever Project, which provides young people with free accommodation while traveling across Türkiye during the summer, has benefited 628,241 people since its launch in 2022, the Youth and Sports Ministry announced.
The project aims to help young people discover different cities, experience new cultures and develop a travel culture by opening ministry-run dormitories to them during the summer holiday.
In the 2026 summer period, 104,771 young people stayed free of charge at dormitories operated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
As part of this year’s program, one girls’ and one boys’ dormitory in each of Türkiye’s 81 provinces were opened to young people between July 6 and Aug. 21.
Young people aged 18 to 30, regardless of whether they were students, could stay at the dormitories free of charge for up to five days.
The program allowed participants to explore Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage and natural attractions while significantly reducing their accommodation costs.
Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak said the project had received strong interest from young people and that the ministry was pleased with its popularity.
“Through the project, we aim to contribute to the development of a travel culture among young people, enable them to see Türkiye’s historical and cultural wealth firsthand and encourage them to discover different cities,” Bak said.
He said the project allowed young people to travel freely across the country during the summer regardless of their student status.
“There is incredible interest in our project, and this makes us very happy,” he said.
Bak said the ministry followed a comprehensive approach to support young people’s social, cultural, academic, sporting and personal development.
He also highlighted improvements to ministry dormitory services, saying the facilities provided young people with a second home during the summer.
“We want our young people to travel and discover their country,” Bak said, adding that the ministry would continue working to provide young people with new opportunities.
