Prominent figures from more than 20 countries gathered in London for the 2026 International Humanitarian Peace Award, where discussions focused on global peace, diplomacy, humanitarian values, sustainable development and international solidarity.
Held at London’s historic Naval and Military Club under the theme “Together for Peace, Humanity and Global Solidarity,” the event brought together ministers, lawmakers, diplomats, academics, international business executives, religious leaders and opinion leaders from countries including Türkiye, Qatar, the UAE, Pakistan, Liberia, Nigeria, France, Jordan, Italy and Gambia.
During the event, Turkuvaz Media Group’s U.K. representative Alpaslan Düven was presented with the International Humanitarian Peace Award in recognition of his contribution to promoting understanding and communication between societies through journalism.
The event was organized by the Institute of International Peace Leaders (IIPL) and LOB’IN International, with the program also highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the vision of the U.N. Global Compact.
Speaking after receiving the award, Düven said journalism is not limited to reporting events but also plays a role in building bridges of understanding between different societies and cultures.
“Peace, humanity and solidarity are universal values that are more important today than ever,” he said.
Düven said journalists have a responsibility to help different societies better understand one another, highlight shared values and bring human stories beyond borders.
He said he accepted the award with pride both personally and on behalf of the Turkuvaz Media Group family, adding that bringing people from different parts of the world together around messages of peace and solidarity was particularly meaningful.
“The language of peace is universal, and I believe every effort that strengthens this language is valuable,” Düven said.
The summit also featured exchanges of views on strengthening global peace, protecting humanitarian values, promoting sustainable development and advancing international solidarity.
