Philippines’ Duterte leads decimation of dozens of lux vehicles
Daily Sabah - Philippines' President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday led another ceremony for the destruction of smuggled luxury cars at Port Irene in Santa Ana, Cagayan.

Under the watchful eye of the president, bulldozers crunched 68 illegal luxury cars worth $2.3 million and 8 motorbikes valued at $370,000.

The destroyed cars included a Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche Carrera and Mercedez Benz SLK 280.

Duterte visited Cagayan just a few months ago for the same purpose, witnessing the destruction of dozens of cars on March 14.

Duterte, known for his violent war on drugs and contempt for criminals, has taken a hard-handed approach to crack down on smuggling. His sensational – and for some, shocking – demonstrations crushing luxury vehicles have gathered international attention.
