Thirteen PKK terrorists were killed on Tuesday in security operations in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari, Mardin and Şırnak provinces, according to the military.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Turkish General Staff said 10 PKK terrorists were killed in the Çukurca district of Hakkari province. Another operation in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province saw one PKK terrorist killed, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in the district to 325. In operations in Şırnak province, two PKK terrorists were killed, bringing the number of terrorists killed there to 299.
Several weapons were also seized during the operations, the statement added. Another terrorist, who escaped from a PKK camp in Northern Iraq, surrendered to security forces on Tuesday in the Silopi district of Şırnak.
On Wednesday, two security force members were wounded, in the Varto district of the eastern province of Muş, during an operation to capture a group of suspects with possible links to the PKK terrorist organization.
The PKK terrorist organization carried out a bomb attack in southeastern Turkey targeting security forces, killing one soldier, and injuring 11 others, including two civilians, according to the regional governor's office. The Mardin Governor's Office said in a statement that the terrorists had targeted a gendarmerie command in the Derik district of Mardin province late on Tuesday. The statement said PKK terrorists detonated an explosive-laden vehicle. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. The governorate also conveyed its condolences to the family of the deceased soldier and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.
