A prosecutor linked to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) had previously released a PKK suicide bomber in Şırnak and plotted against the police officers who refused to destroy the documents regarding this issue.

Nazir Kuş, a public prosecutor in Istanbul who was arrested in the investigation into the July 15 coup attempt, released a detained PKK suicide bomber, Bülent Öztürk, who was captured at the Habur border gate on the Iraqi border while he was in the southeastern province of Şırnak in 2008 at that time. Later, Öztürk was captured again in Istanbul while carrying almost 3 kilograms of A4 explosives.

After an investigation was launched into him for the incident, Kuş ordered the police officers who detained Öztürk at the Habur border gate to destroy the documents regarding Öztürk's link to the PKK. Upon their refusal, Kuş sued the police officers, accusing them of bribery, forming an armed terrorist organization and wrongful conduct. After they were jailed for nine months, the police officers were also dismissed following the judgement process.

However Kuş was first appointed the Karabük Public Prosecutor and was then assigned to his current duty by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) in 2016.

Speaking to Sabah daily, a victimized police officer, M.O., also told how Kuş was directly involved in Öztürk's release: "We detained Bülent Korkmaz and said he could be a suicide bomber. But Kuş released him. We informed the intelligence units and he was again captured in Mecidiyeköy [in Istanbul] before carrying out an attack. However, we found ourselves as police officers in the passport office. We were sued and dismissed from our jobs."

Serdar Ürkmez said that he was pressured to support the FETÖ in the police department. "We were with terrorists in the same cell in jail. That was the heaviest thing that offended me. I was dismissed from the job I really love on baseless accusations. I am currently engaged in farming."

Previously, a putschist pilot who took part in the coup attempt confessed in his testimony that the FETÖ ordered him not to kill PKK militants, revealing how the FETÖ hindered the fight against the PKK.
