The youth branch of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) delivered humanitarian aid to the Syrian town of Jarablus yesterday.
After the town was liberated by the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) on Aug. 24, the Turkish Red Crescent and some nongovernmental organizations have been supplying humanitarian aid to Jarablus. Yesterday, the AK Party's youth branch helped the people of the area.
Speaking to Daily Sabah, head of the AK Party youth branch Melih Ecertaş said Turkey is and will always will be by the people of Jarablus. "We had two aims. One was to provide the people of Jarablus with clothing, food and toys. The other was to make sure our soldiers in Syria are not alone. We wanted to make them smile during Qurban Bayram," he said. Ecertaş stressed that the AK Party youth branch's humanitarian aid convoys will continue to be delivered into Syria with no let-up.
Recently, Turkey also provided electricity to the town on the eve of Qurban Bayram (Feast of the Sacrifice), also known as Eid al-Adha. Turkey's efforts to provide the town with electricity and water paid off and Turkey completed construction work for providing electricity to Jarablus. "We will provide electricity to Jarablus this bayram, God willing," Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said in a tweet on Thursday. Electricity reached Jarablus on Saturday from Turkey.
