A senior PKK member has been captured by Turkish security officials in southeastern Batman province, Turkish military said on Sunday.
According to a statement released on the official website of the military, PKK terrorist Hakkı Tugay, who also went by the nickname Senar, was captured during an anti-terror operation.
Tugay was also featured in the grey pages of Turkish Interior Ministry's "wanted terrorists" list.
The militant was said to be the one who ordered the terrorist attack on Kızıltepe military office in April, in which one Syrian national was killed and 18 people were injured.
The security sources said that he was also responsible for the attack on a gendarmerie command building in Mardin province on April 20 which killed one soldier and injured a civilian.
The PKK - listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU - resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.
Since then, more than 300 civilians and nearly 850 security personnel have been killed. In counter terror operations, around 9,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
