As NATO takes over command of the Libya operation, it has also been announced that the Izmir base will be used as operation headquarters.
According to NATO sources, Izmir will be made the command center for air operations in Libya.
Sources state, that according to the United Nations' 1973 regulation the operation will be taken over by NATO on Sunday or Monday. As of next week, the entire operation should be in the hands of the alliance.
