During the demonstration, Rabbi Yitzhak Ehrenberg took off his Kippah and placed it on the head of the Chairman of the German-Turkish Community (TGD) Kenan Kolat in a show of solidarity.
In response to the increasing reaction to the ruling, Federal Assembly Vice-President Wolfgang Thierse promised demonstrators that they would do all they can to find a legal formulation for religious circumcisions.
