The U.S. military announced Thursday the establishment of a Joint Coalition Coordination Center (JCCC) between the Iraqi government, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Coalition Joint Forces Land Component Command – Iraq near Erbil.
This move aims to increase cooperation in the fight against ISIS among coalition forces commands based in Baghdad and Erbil, while relocating Ninewa Operations Center from Baghdad to northern Iraq to coordinate future operations in the Ninewa province and Mosul.
"The establishment of the JCCC is another tangible sign of the united effort of governmental security forces across northern Iraq and the coalition working together towards the shared goal of defeating Daesh (Arabic acronym of ISIS) and returning stability to the region" the statement said.
An equal number of representatives from all three parties will be included in the center.
