Senior security officials said Sunday that the operation mobilizing 5,000 police officers against the PKK's youth-wing Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) in the Cizre district of Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province will be expanded to include 20 more districts. According to sources, along with Cizre, the Sur, Doğubeyazıt, Yüksekova, Beytüşşebap, Varto and Nusaybin districts of Turkey's eastern and southeastern provinces will fall within the scope of the operation. The goal is to minimize the terrorist organization's influence on locals, especially during the election process.Following the announcement of a curfew, police and gendarmerie forces of around 2,000 and 5,000 will carry out the operations against terrorists in accordance with their allotted capacities in the relevant district.
