A 21-year-old airport worker continues to recover more than a week after he was seriously injured at Southwest Florida International Airport when lightning struck a plane he was assisting during a storm. The freak incident was captured on airport surveillance video from various angles.
Austin Dunn was hospitalized with third degree burns after he was struck by lightning on Saturday, July 22.
He and two of his co-workers were backing up a Sun Country airplane for takeoff at Fort Myers.
Dressed in an orange uniform, Dunn was beneath one of the wings when the lightning struck the tail of the airplane. The shock caused him to collapse on the tarmac.
Dunn was reportedly released from the hospital on Tuesday.
