Considered a favorite in Turkey’s jazz music genre, despite her young age, Elif Çağlar takes the stage at Babylon Thursday night, April 7th.
Born in 1980, Elif Çağlar studied Jazz Composition at the Department of Music at Bilgi University and then went on to New York to complete her education at the Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music in Jazz Performance.
Elif Çağlar combined her knowledge of jazz with the variety of music styles she listened to throughout her life to create the seriously creative endeavor, her album entitled M-U-S-I-C.
Elif Çağlar wrote and composed all songs on her first solo album, which contains fusions of soul to bossa, folk to pop, rock to reggae and drum'n'bass to swing. Elif Çağlar was joined by a number of prominent jazz musicians on her album, including the likes of İmer Demirer, Cengiz Baysal, Bilal Karaman and Ferhat. Don't miss one of the most promising jazz performances to come out of Turkey, tonight at Istanbul's Babylon.
