Almost all food brands use the term organic today. Everyone's milk, eggs, chicken, vegetables and fruits are organic.
I deal with a few prominent ones from the brands asserting such claims. My favorite brand is Palivor Çiftliği. The farm, located in the Demirköy district of Kırklareli, is an organic paradise. Palivor Çiftliği is run as a very special eco-life project. The farm is inspired by the idea of catching life going away from nature and earth by benefitting from the opportunities offered by modern life. It won a total of six European Real Estate prizes in 2011, and is located on 35 acres. Products from the farm include many items made from cheese to jam and olive oil to sausages. My favorite is their curry ketchup. As a ketchup addict, I recommend you try this ketchup that is spiced up with a little curry.
Hot dogs made from the farm's products, bagels with aged cheese and sausages and special drinks from Thrace are available from the farm's retail branches in Bebek and Nişantaşı, as well as its meat and milk products. Even though the prices are little high, I am sure that you will be satisfied by the wide product range and tastes.
What is an organic egg?
I had the opportunity to visit the organic farm of Adil İçel, owner of Gakga, in Manisa. Organic eggs, chicken, honey and jam are all produced on the farm where the animals graze in their natural environment. There is no serial production or use of chemicals. Adil İçel explained that it all started with 10 eggs that they gave to a friend, and has since expanded by word of mouth. He then described what organic eggs are.
İçel said: "A chicken in a cage lays eggs every day. They are fed with prepared feed. Since they have no space to move, they use all their energy to make an egg. But our chickens consume most of their energy walking around, pecking and searching for insects in the pasture. Thus, they lay once every two or three days. Their eggs are very delicious since they eat various plants and insects. Since they lay less often, the eggshells are thicker and harder and the egg membrane is strong. When we crack the egg, the egg yolk and whites are more firm and do not spread quickly. Thus it is necessary to eat the eggs of chickens in their natural environment." The eggs from organic chickens are not white, but pink or reddish. Visit this farm, where honey from hives in the Bozdağ Mountains and organic walnuts are sold, at the first opportunity.
The trend of goat's milk
Wherever I go, I hear something about the popularity of goat's milk. Goat's milk has become an integral part of the organic food trend following goat's cheese. We had the opportunity to talk with alternative-medicine specialist Dr. Şahbaz Babaoğlu. Babaoğlu from the students of Dalaylama, said that milk fat in cow's milk cannot be digested by the human body after a certain age. He said that instead of cow's milk, goat's milk, which has different fatty acids, should be consumed after 13 years of age. Now I was able to understand the reason for the quick spread of the goat's milk trend. This milk, drunk in moderation, does not cause weight gain. Although there are not many types of it, you should give it a go. Milk by the brands Kay and Kecheese are very dominant in the market. The taste of the ones in boxes is lighter than that of pure goat's milk. It is easy to drink, and I became used to drinking it in just a few days. But the taste of the deserts made with goat's milk is a little bit different. You may recall the different taste of goat's milk in different ice creams. It is better to drink it straight.
