Antalya Culture and Arts center to hold workshops for all age groups

Having brought new dynamism to the city's artistic realm, the Antalya Culture and Arts Center is holding artistic workshops meant to open a new horizon in the lives of art lovers from all age groups

Antalya Culture and Arts is set to hold some colorful and fun workshops for a range of age groups (4-12, 13-17 and 18 and over) as part of an exhibition titled "Encounters," that will begin on Nov. 21 and continue to welcome guests until Feb. 19, 2017.



The exhibition will showcase works of graduates and students from Akdeniz University's Faculty of Fine Arts. As part of the program, participants will first visit the exhibition and later get engaged in the workshops that will include different projects using various materials and techniques.

People on the Move

Children will scrutinize feature of human body in "Transformation of Body" section of the exhibition and will learn about the motionless and moving states, colors, the relation and balance between shape and form of the human body with the help of wires, aluminum foil and paint. This workshop is designed for the age group 4-to-6.

Dec. 11, Sunday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Dec. 3, Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Balloon Prints

In this workshop, inspired by Mustafa Bolat's work titled "Boundary-Situation," children will learn the use of color, painting compositions and about balloon print. This workshop is designed for the age group 4-to-6.

Nov. 20, Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Sunday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Dec. 10, Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Renewable Designs

This workshop has been inspired by Handan Akarsu's work titled 'Memory.' While discussing innovative suggestions on painting, it aims to teach children the relation between art and design through transition from two-dimension to three-dimension. This workshop is designed for the age group 7-to-12.

Nov. 19, Nov. 26, Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.



My story on Cera.m.ics

Children will first examine Oğuzhan Yalçıner's work titled "Pitchers" in the "Conceptional Approaches" section and then applies their own designs to a ceramic pitcher, making a unique memory. This workshop is designed for the age group 7-to-12.

Dec. 3, Dec. 17, Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Nov. 27, Sunday: 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Recreate the Toile

Participants re-question paint composition, contrasts, colors as well as textures and integrity of colors in their own world with artist Gizem Göktaş. They create new paintings that will go beyond the two-dimension of the toile.

This workshop is designed for the age group 7-to-12.

Nov. 20, Dec. 11, Sunday: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Dec. 10, Saturday: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

My Colorful Windmill

Inspired by Ayça Karaağaç's work titled "Self-arrangement," children learn about principles of movement, concept of kinetic sculpture and projection of kinetic energy on art by making windmills in this workshop. This workshop is designed for the age group 7-to-12.

Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Sunday: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Making Pinhole Ca.m.era

Held by photographer Tuncay Çetin, the workshop includes an information session on the historical development of photography after the exhibition tour. The participants experience main secrets of photography, learn how to make pinhole cameras and create their own cameras using matchboxes, cans or any sort of shoe boxes. This workshop is designed for the age group 13 and over.

Nov. 24: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Dec. 17, Saturday: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Experimental Paintings

Another workshop inspired by Akarsu's work titled "Memory", this one examines the re-discovery process of painting through temporariness and permanence. Participants base the imagery they choose on pictures and contribute a new dimension to their pictorial perspectives. This workshop is designed for children aged 13 and over.

Nov. 19, 26, Saturday: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Painting Made Of Mat

Here participants will examine the difference between a carpet, rug and weaving in the exhibition with the artists Asel Erkekli and Gülşen Çaldemir. They experience how the artwork they choose will turn into a decorative painting with use of mat in the workshop. As they learn about traditional arts, they will experience the modern and tradition at the same time. This workshop is designed for the age group 18 and over.

Dec. 8, Thursday: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Dance of Ropes

Participants work on weaving techniques that they apply to different objects collected from nature and create new works, in which art becomes integrated with nature with artist Elif Güzel Özparlar. This workshop is also designed for people aged 18 and over.

Nov. 17, Dec. 15, Thursday: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Transformation of Objects

Inspired by Oğuzhan Yalçıner's work titled "Pitchers," participants give flexible copper wires a shape and add some objects to forms which look as if they are two-dimensional. This workshop is designed for the age group 18 and over.

Dec. 1, Thursday: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
