The countdown for "A Dream, A Play" competition, organized for the second time by Zorlu Holding, continues with the last application date set for July 31.

By making children realize their talents, to motivate them and enhance their self-confidence, Zorlu Holding's competition invites third and fourth year graders from all around Turkey in the 2017-2018 education year to submit their unique stories.

The jury, consisting of esteemed figures from the world of theater and literature, will evaluate the submitted stories and pick one of the children to turn it into a theater play, making their dreams come true.

Winner to be staged on World Theater Day

The applications can be uploaded to www.birhayalbiroyun.con or sent through post. The first 10 stories will be shortlisted by the jury and the top three stories will be shared with the public on Sept. 19, 2017.

When schools open, the story that came first will be turned into a play. The story will be adapted to a play by a professional team and acted on staged on World Theater Day at Zorlu Performing Arts Center (PSM).

The owners of the top three stories will receive, respectively, TL 10,000 ($2,800), TL 5,000 and TL 3,000, and the authors of top ten stories will attend "Creative Writing Training" to improve their basic story writing skills, such as the elements of a story, character building, plot and creative approaches, and they will learn that everything starts with a dream.

Just like last year the top 10 stories will be collected in a book and presented to audiences on the World Theater Day.

The jury consists of some of the most accomplished figures in children's literature including Dr. Asya Çağlar; Dokuz Eylül Universities Faculty of Fine Arts Member Prof. Dr. Hülya Nutku; playwright and director and also author of stories, novels and articles Özen Yula; director, actress and author Şahika Tekand; dramaturge Selen Korad Birkiye; another figure from children's literature with more than forty books, Süleyman Bulut; writer and scriptwriter Can Yılmaz; theater, cinema and TV actor and scriptwriter Mert Fırat; director and scriptwriter İlksen Başarır; Istanbul Foundation of Culture and Arts' (İKSV) Istanbul Theater Festival's director Leman Yılmaz and Zorlu PSM General Manager Murat Abbas.
