The Istanbul Modern is scheduled to start welcoming visitors again on June 1 at its temporary address in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district.

Istanbul Modern, which was temporarily closed on March 17 as part of coronavirus measures, will reopen with new safety rules at its temporary site. Construction is still underway at the museum's permanent location in the Karaköy district.

As part of transition to the new norm, hand sanitizer will be offered on every floor of the museum, which is regularly disinfected by professional teams in addition to regular cleaning processes. Visitors are required to wear masks and have their body temperature checked by contactless devices upon entry. In addition, visitors can choose a time slot to visit and schedule their arrival through an online booking application launched on the museum's website to ensure each visit is safe and easy.

The reopening coincides with an exhibition titled “Guests: Artists and Craftspeople,” which features the works of artists from various countries produced by Istanbul's traditional artisans, as well as the “Lütfi Özkök: Portraits” photo showing.

The number of visitors to each floor of the building will be limited to 70, in line with social-distancing regulations. Due to the controlled normalization process, all training and activities at the museum, including guided group tours and film screenings, will continue online.
