South Korean K-pop group Stray Kids will sit out the 2027 Grammy Awards after choosing not to submit music for consideration, the group's agency JYP Entertainment confirmed.
Stray Kids is joining BTS as debate continues about a newly introduced category for Asian pop.
"Stray Kids did not submit any work to the Grammys," JYP said on Friday, without providing a reason for the decision.
The move comes amid controversy about the Recording Academy's new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which will make its debut at next year's awards.
The category covers music, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, with eligible recordings required to make "meaningful use" of one or more Asian languages.
The Recording Academy said this week that it would move forward with the category despite criticism, following consultations with members of the Asian music community.
Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. acknowledged opposition to the category but said the organization also received strong support for keeping it.
BTS announced in July that it would not submit music for the 2027 Grammys.
BTS said at the time that it hoped music could be "heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language."
All eight members of Stray Kids were invited to become voting members of the Recording Academy earlier this year.
The 69th Grammy Awards are scheduled for Feb. 7, 2027.
