Istanbul's Anadolu Efes won the Royal Halı Turkish Cup by defeating city rivals Fenerbahçe Ülker 70-60 in the final match at Karataş Şahinbey Sports Hall in Gaziantep province Sunday. Anadolu Efes Croatian forward Dario Saric was the top scorer, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds. His Serbian team-mate Nenad Krstic had a "double-double" with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Meanwhile, French point guard Thomas Heurtel contributed to the victory with 12 points and six assists. Fenerbahçe Ülker Czech forward Jan Vesely scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Victorious side Anadolu Efes's guard Heurtel was designated the player of the game.
Both teams posted 15 points each in the first period, while Anadolu Efes posted a 22-17 run in the second frame to take a five-point lead at half time. The opponents reduced the gap at the end of the third period when they replied with a 15-14 rally in the third quarter. Anadolu Efes however needed a final 19-13 push to seal the victory. Dario Saric stepped up with 17 points for the winners and Nenad Krstic notched 13.
In Spain, Real Madrid beat rivals Barcelona 77-71 in Spanish King's Cup final. Real Madrid have won their 25th Spanish King's Cup (Copa del Rey) title in basketball after beating rivals Barcelona 77-71 in the final at Gran Canaria Arena, Las Palmas on Sunday night. Real Madrid star Rudy Fernandez has been designated as the Most Valuable Player of Copa del Rey 2015.
