As Antalya aims to acquire 11 million tourist visits this year alone, previously laid investment plans put on the wayside are about to be restarted. In addition, a 500 million euro investment into the building of 15 new five-star hotels is also on the way.
Due to the crisis, development in Antalya has been halted for the past two years; however, it appears now they will soon be restarted. With over 200 five-star hotels in the making, new investments will be adding 15 more to that figure. The majority of investors are from the Antalya tourism industry and they hope to have their projects ready for this summer, otherwise for 2012. In addition to the investments projects about to continue in the region, a 500 million euro investment is also foreseen over the next two years.
Irregardless of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism not appropriating land as of yet, investors are choosing to use their own land or purchased property in order to actualize their projects. Investments are especially cluttered in the Manavgat - Side region.
Last year, nine million tourists visited Antalya and this year's target is eleven million.
