Turkey’s May, 2011 unemployment figures show a 1.6 drop compared to the same figures from the year prior, with the total percentage of unemployed at 9.4 percent.
The unemployment rate in urban areas was 11.6 percent, while in rural areas at 5.4 percent.
According to TÜİK , or the Turkish Statistical Institute's Household Labor Force Survey, 2011 May Period Results (April, May, June 2011) compared to the 2,846,000 number of unemployed in May 2010, this year's figure has dropped down to 2,550,000 people.
The total number of employed has risen from 23,055,000 to 24,445,000 people.
