The tender for major repair work on Istanbul's Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet (FSM) bridges is set to take place on September 5.
Bids will be received for the tender for heavy repair and maintenance planned for the Bosphorus and FSM bridges in Istanbul in commemoration of the 40th year anniversary of the first bridge going into operation.
The work includes, the renewing of electrical equipment on the bridges, 236 bent suspension cables being made vertical and laying new asphalt within the scope of the maintenance and repair work so they can carry greater loads and last longer.
Road lanes near the suspension cables will be closed to traffic between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., however other than that traffic will not be disrupted unless absolutely necessary.
Bidders can obtain the necessary documents from Turkish Directorate General for Highways and must be returned to the Directorate before the date of tender by hand or mail.
The repair and maintenance work is expected to be completed in 18 months.
