The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) announced a call for new projects on "sonar development," "insensitive explosives" and "infrared detectors." According to a statement from TÜBİTAK, the call is to develop Turkey's warfare equipment and capabilities in the scope of the 1007 Program of Researching Group for Defense and Secured Technologies (SAVTAG). A TL 41 million ($18 million) budget has been allocated for three projects that target to end foreign dependency on defense.
