30,000 new employment opportunities from 20 firms

The private sector welcomed 2015 with high expectations, which helped compaines create new job opportunuties and 20 companies have announced avaliable positions for 30,000 people in mainly the retail and finance sectors

After welcoming 2015 with higher economic expectations than last year, the private sector is striving to increase employment this year, especially in the retail, finance, health and logistics sectors. Some of the top 20 companies aiming to expand in 2015 will provide a total of 30,000 job opportunities.

Among the biggest expected employers, LC Waikiki will hire 12,000 people followed by Aras Kargo with 6,000, Turkcell Global Bilgi with 5,000 and Finansbank, Garanti Bank and Ziraat Bank with 2,000 new employment opportunities. The departments with the highest job vacancies are in sales and marketing, followed by global executives and internet experts. According to the 2015 government program, employment in general will increase by 516,000 people, reaching 26.3 million, out of which 600,000 will be in the private sector.


LC Waikiki is set to hire about 12,000 employees for the new stores it is planning to open abroad and 5,000 employees for its local stores. Turkcell Global Bilgi will be hiring more than 5,000 people to be mostly placed in its new call centers located in various places around Turkey. Aras Kargo's job vacancies of around 6,000 positions are mostly for field operations, as the turnover in this area is relatively high and also the company has new plans for growth. Turkish Airlines will also be hiring 2,000 people to be assigned to positions in cabin crews and the flight deck as well as 500 more pilots. Further, banks which had the highest job circulations and collective redundancies last year are now willing to employ more people due to the increasing workload in 2015. According to the data of the United Brands Association, the Turkish retail sector in general will be hiring 350 thousand people in 2015.

Figures from Manpower for the first quarter of 2015 claim that employment in general will increase by 20 percent, with the central Anatolian region having the highest number of vacancies followed by the Marmara and Black Sea regions. The General Manager of Manpower in Turkey, Reha Hatioğlu, said that they believe there will be economic growth in the first half of 2015, triggering employment, and within the first quarter, various Anatolian cities will be offering new employment opportunities. Highest employment is expected to occur in the manufacturing industry, with around 32 percent of the opportunities, followed by the pharmaceutical and construction industries.
