A member of Qatar's royal family, Sheikh Nasser Nasser Ahmed Ali A. Al Thani, has purchased the Kontes Beach Hotel, 100 meters away from the five-star Munamar Hotel he previously purchased on Uzunyalı Beach in the Marmaris district of Muğla. He reportedly paid 7 million euros for the 58-bed hotel. The Sheikh purchased the Munamar Hotel from the Al Maselah Construction Company for $15 million. He first saw the hotel, which has five suits and 180 rooms, during a blue cruise in 2009, and bought it on Jan. 7, 2010. Subsequently, the Sheikh and the İçmeler Municipality had a falling out over the Sheikh's desire to build a 250-square-meter king's suit for himself, which was against regulations. His friends prevented him from selling the hotel, so the hotel was rented to a consortium in 2012. Then, after pressure from his close friends, he changed his mind and visited the district last Friday to sign the deal for the Kontes Hotel, which has 28 rooms built on five floors and two blocks.
