Turkish retail sales rose 2.9 percent in volume in February compared to the same period of the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement Tuesday. Sales of food, drinks and tobacco increased 4.2 percent and automotive fuel sales jumped 11 percent. Online sales surged with sales via mail order and the Internet sales, up 47.5 percent compared tothe same month in 2014. The volume of retail sales decreased 0.7 percent in February from January 2014, and the sales of computers, books and telecommunications equipment led the month-to-month decline, decreasing 3 percent.
