Construction of Qatar's Al - Khor Al-Bayt World Cup stadium will begin next month. Doha News said the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has announced work will begin in September. Last month, it was announced that Italian construction firm Salini Impregilo Group, in joint venture with Galfar and Cimolai, won the 770 million euro ($876 billion) contract to build the World Cup stadium. Of the total, 716 million euros will be for design and construction work and more than 53 million euros will be for operation and maintenance. Ghanim Al Kuwari, executive director of competition venues, was quoted as saying in a statement this week: "We are progressing well at Al Khor". The stadium is to be located about 50 kilometers north of Doha.
