International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde answered a Turkish user's question on Twitter regarding the refugee crisis.
Following the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group, Lagarde held a Q&A session on Twitter, offering up several opinions on various issues ranging from tax evasion to the refugee crisis.
When asked: "How do you foresee the effects of the refugee crisis on the global economy in the near future?" by Turkish user Yıldız Kaşıkçı, Lagarde answered: "The refugee crisis is a global humanitarian issue first and foremost and, if not addressed properly, it will worsen and grow; if it is addressed properly and there is integration, it will not cost the economy anything; resulting instead in in economic benefits, and that's what all players should really address cooperatively, now."
