According to futurist Ryan Shaw who came to Turkey as a special guest of Renaissance Real Estate Investment, by 2020 fitting rooms in stores will be replaced with digital mirrors, enabling customers to try on clothes virtually.
Stating that digital mirrors are increasingly used by international brands and will soon debut in Turkey, Shaw said consumers would be able to see how clothes look without actually trying them on. The stores will have facial- or retinal-recognition devices at the entrance.
According to Shaw, when the customers enter the store, their information will be submitted to the sales manager and customers will be directed to clothes according to their needs and tastes. Indicating that this technology would be most useful for eyewear brands, Shaw said it would be enough to choose a model fit for the face shape. Renaissance Holding Executive Board member Murat Özgümüş said dining areas in shopping malls went from 5 percent up to 20 percent.
