Turkish Airlines flies 25 million passengers in 5 months

The number of passengers flying with Turkish Airlines increased 7.8 percent in the first five months of the year when compared to the same period last year. According to an announcement released by the airline through the Public Disclosure Platform, while the number of passengers in January-May period in 2015 was 23.2 million, 25 million flew during the same period in 2016. The increase in passengers was 10.5 percent higher for domestic flights and 5.8 percent higher for international ones. Seat occupancy rate decreased by 3.6 percentage points to 73.8 percent.
The number of passenger aircraft arrivals in the first five months of 2016 was 187,482, up by 7.8 percent when compared to the same period last year. Total cargo carried was 313,772 tones, marking a 10.4 percent increase over the same period last year.
More destinations have been added to Turkish Airlines' network. The airline now flies to 289 cities worldwide, 49 of which are in Turkey. The number of aircraft that the company owns is now 322.
