The tender of Gayrettepe-third airport metro line, which took months of debate, has been concluded. Kolin-Şenbay consortium won the tender for 999 million 769 thousand 962 euros. The metro line is scheduled to be commissioned at the opening of the first phase of the New Airport in Feb. 2018.
The length of the Gayrettepe-New Airport rail line is 36 kilometers. High-speed train sets that run at 120 kilometers per hour will be used. The journey from the city center to the new airport will only take 30 minutes and 8 stations are planned for the line. Accordingly, the rail system moving from Gayrettepe will take passengers in Hasdal, Kemerburgaz / Göktürk, Işıklar and 3rd Airport respectively. The target date for the commissioning of the completed line is February 2018.
EYES ON THE HALKALI ROUTE
After the third airport-Gayrretepe line is tendered, the eyes have turned to Halkalı line. The second line to be connected to the New Airport will be 31 kilometers long Halkalı-New Airport line. With this line, a 66 kilometers long railway network extending from Gayrettepe to Halkalı will be built in Istanbul.
