Türkiye has called for stronger international cooperation to build resilient wind energy supply chains and strengthen its role as a regional manufacturing hub, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Zafer Demircan said on Tuesday.
Speaking at WindEnergy Hamburg, Demircan said that geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts and disruptions to global supply chains have challenged countries' approaches to energy security and highlighted the need for resilient infrastructure, diversified supply chains and strong industrial capabilities.
"Energy security is no longer simply about having sufficient energy sources," Demircan said.
"It is also about having resilient infrastructure, supply chains and strong industrial capabilities and reliable international partnerships."
He described wind energy as a key pillar of energy security strategies, saying it was important not only as a growing source of clean electricity but also as an industrial opportunity.
Türkiye has developed a strong wind manufacturing base supported by an experienced workforce, an established industrial ecosystem and close integration with European markets, Demircan said.
He called for closer cooperation between manufacturers and project developers to diversify and strengthen supply chains and support the expansion of wind energy globally.
"Competitiveness today cannot be achieved by commodities alone," Demircan said, adding that governments should provide predictable investment frameworks and efficient permitting processes, while investors need long-term visibility and industry needs an environment conducive to innovation and scaling production.
Demircan said Türkiye was ready to work with technology providers, component manufacturers and energy investors to expand cooperation and contribute its industrial capacity and growing domestic market to the development of global wind energy supply chains.
"If governments, industry and investors work together, we can accelerate new deployments, strengthen global supply chains and create a more competitive and resilient industry," he said.
