The EU hosts the PKK's demonstrations and provides funding for the group even though they regard it as a terrorist organization, legitimizing the secessionist terrorists
European Union leaders and officials from member states have been progressively taking a stronger anti-Turkish stance. In recent days this anti-Turkish stance has surpassed the limits of antagonism and has reached proportions of open enmity toward Turkey and its elected President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Erdoğan, who currently enjoys a 70 percent approval rating, has hit back in style and has given the message that our patience, goodwill and tolerance is coming to an end. President Erdoğan has said EU countries are very hasty in accepting political refugees from Turkey yet they do not show the same sensitivity to the poor people who have been forced out of their homes in Syria because of tyranny and are seeking refuge in Europe. He has highlighted the ugly hypocrisy being displayed byWestern leaders regarding the migrants from Syria and he is justified in doing this as the leader of an administration that has been taking care of 3 million Syrian migrants over five years in the best possible conditions, having spent $13 billion of Turkish tax payer's money and an additional $12 billion from private relief organizations.
The general EU assault against Turkey has intensified in recent days when prosecutors questioned and then jailed nine deputies from the Kurdish nationalist Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) whose immunities were lifted by Parliament a few months ago and have rejected invitations from prosecutors to be questioned on charges of actively supporting and abating the PKK terrorist organization.
The EU is now parading adversaries of the Turkish government all over Europe with journalist Can Dündar heading the list. Dündar is being given the red carpet treatment in European capitals and has been encouraged to make strong and grossly exaggerated statements against the government and has been insulting President Erdoğan in very strong terms. Poor Dündar has turned into a political clown being manipulated by European governments who are now financing him to vomit his hatred, anger and enmity. Those of us who cherish Western democratic values and who have been brought up with British culture regard this as a clumsy effort by the Europeans to use a loose cannon to do their dirty work against Turkey.
This is really sad. Dündar is clearly in a hopeless situation as his buddies have failed to topple Erdoğan and is thus selling his soul to those who want to exploit him against his country.
But what is even sadder is that while the EU claims it regards the PKK as a terrorist organization they are doing everything to legitimize the secessionist terrorists. They host their demonstrations, they even provide funds. They do nothing to curb the PKK's terrorist activities in Europe.
So when the HDP deputies actively support the PKK, when they carry their arms and explosives, when they attend funerals of PKK terrorists and speak out against Turkey and vow to continue the terrorist war, when they order people into the streets and cause deaths, when they actively take part in an insurrection in our cities and villages in southeastern Turkey what are we supposed to do? If this happened in any European country would those backing and actively participating in the activities of a terrorist organization manage to avoid jail?
But what is worse is that EU envoys representing their respective countries in an unprecedented move have been attending the parliamentary group meetings of the HDP to display their solidarity with the party and hence its affiliation to the PKK. This happened only a day after EU Affairs Minister Ömer Çelik met with the EU ambassadors in Ankara to explain to them Turkey's sensitivities on the issue. It seems they simply did not want to hear from Çelik.
Don't the EU envoys realize that the terrible performances of their governments and their antagonistic behavior in Ankara are deepening the anger among the Turkish masses who simply say "to hell with the EU." Don't the EU envoys understand that while Paris and Brussels came under terrorist attacks by Daesh terrorists only three times we are suffering PKK terrorist killings every day and the Turkish people will not forgive those who side with them?
Instead of doing all this, why doesn't the EU take a clear decision declaring "we do not want you in the EU," and put an end to our candidacy thus ending this adventure once and for all?
